Upgrades to items allow players to boost an item's gear score up to 700, and then add an additional perk. Items can be upgraded if they are in your inventory and you decide to take them to the Kiln.

Certain items are worth upgrading because of their unique stats. (For example the perfect roll breakpoint armor is used in melee PvP). Other items like weapons don't really change after an upgrade, and aren't worth the cost.

Weapons

Upgrades to weapons can increase their numerical stats, like attack damage, crit probability and PvE/PvP damage. They also have an unchanging bonus that increases their damage per second. Upgrading weapons will also reroll their base stats. This is usually a positive factor, but it could also have negative effects. Upgrades can render items unusable, unless you are exceptionally lucky.

The ability to upgrade armor items to boost their performance. Armor

It's also worthwhile to save your armor upgrades for the armor you'll still be wearing at the end of the game, such as the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield, or the helmet you wear for the final boss battle, the Monter Parts Merchant's mask.

You can also get some advantages to your armor by presenting the jeweler in Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. You'll generally want to save these upgrades to the weapon you'll be using to win the game. For instance the Longsword or Battleaxe. Potions
